What is Ionized Water?

Why is pH important? How does Ionized, Alkaline Water affect pH?
The pH scale ranges from 0 on the acidic side to 14 on the alkaline side, and a solution isneutral if its pH is 7. At pH 7, water contains equal concentrations of H+ and OH- ions. Substances with a pH less than 7 are acidic because they contain a higher concentration of H+ ions and less OH- ions.
Living things, including humans, are extremely sensitive to pH and function best (with certain exceptions, such as different portions of the digestive tract) when solutions are nearly neutral. Most interior living matter (excluding the cell nucleas) has a pH of about 6.8. Blood plasma and other fluids that surround the cells in the body have a pH of 7.2 to 7.45. A blood pH of 6.9 can induce coma and death. That is why all bodily systems are secondary in importance to the system of pH balancing.
Our bodies are slowly deteriorating from too many acid causing waste products.These waste products become solid wastes such as cholesterol, fatty acid, uric acid, kidney stones, urates, phosphates, sulfates, etc. and they accumulate and build-up somewhere within our bodies. How different is Ionized, Alkaline Water from tap water?
Tap water measures at about 7.0 or neutral on the pH scale. It is laden with all forms of organic and inorganic chemicals, and is energetically 'dead' from its long enclosed journey from reservoir to you via steel, concrete, plastic and copper pipe. Besides the added chemicals, tap water also has a redox (oxygen reduction potential) of +400 to +500 mV. Redox, determined with an ORP meter, is a measure of the oxidation level of water. Because tap water has a positive redox potential, it tends to rob electrons from other molecules, which can among other things, reduce your energy and accelerate aging. Ionized water has a negative redox potential of about -250 to -350 mV. This means it has a large quantity of electrons to donate to electron consuming free radicals.
 Some free radicals arise during metabolism and sometimes the body's immune system's cells purposefully create them to neutralize bacteria and viruses. However, environmental factors such as pollution, radiation, cigarette smoke, herbicides, and pesticides can also create free radicals. If antioxidants are unavailable or if free radical production is excessive, damage can occur. Free radical damage tends to accumulate with age.
With ionized water, the size and shape of the water molecule cluster is reduced in size and is changed in shape to hexagonal. Introducing the BioStone
 The first task of a water ionizer is to filter out harmful components of the water: chlorine, trihalomethanes, phenols, sediment, odor, taste, organic waste, and bacteria of all kinds. All Jupiter Science models achieve this to a high degree by the use of multi-stage activated carbon replenishable filters which filter down to .1 micron (.01 micron filter upgrade available - used mainly for well-water) and should last about 1 year for a family of four.
As well as filtering out impurities from the input water, Jupiter ionizers pass the water through what Jupiter Science has dubbed the 'BioStone.' The Biostone is a ceramic formed of the semi-precious mineral tourmaline and coral calcium.
Tourmaline carries a small electrical charge and naturally emits far infrared energy (FIR), which changes the surface tension of the water, making it easier for the ionizer to process the water, and also begins the negative ion creation process.
